Kip, his brother-in-law, Chris, and I floated the Gasconade River to fish for Smallmouth Bass. Because fishing is easier in the bow and the stern, they put me in the middle of the boat and they engaged in what appeared to be an on-going fishing competition between the two of them. I was promised a better position later in the trip, but since the fishing wasn’t very good and the competition never subsided, this offer just disappeared. I caught a six-inch fish, so the trip was successful in terms of my goal. I have caught lots of nice Smallmouth Bass elsewhere anyway.
It was over a hundred degrees most of the day, so I figured there wasn’t any reason why a fishing trip couldn’t be turned into a swimming trip. They must have figured it was a good idea, because they joined me.
